Hey Backers,
We are only 2 days away from the close of our MQR campaign! It’s been an incredible run so far, with over 2,300 backers and $110K pledged. Let's see what happens in the final stretch!
NEW BACKERKIT ADD-ONS
In backer update #4 we shared a list of ADD-ONS that will be available on BackerKit at the end of the campaign. We added a few more items to the list since then and wanted to give you an update on it.
We've added a titanium keyring variety pack which includes 2 x Small (20mm), 2 x Medium (26mm) and 2 x Large (32mm) for a total of 6 keyrings. At first we thought that everyone would be fine with just the 2 x Small (20mm) option but then we realized that backers would benefit more from having multiple sizes available. If you wanted to carry several keys in addition to several EDC items on your keys, having just the smaller rings might not work. We have tested different sizes and these are the most popular ones that's going to cover most of everyone's needs.
This titanium keyring variety pack will definitely give you the freedom to carry more or less at your convenience. Easily swap out and/or mix and match your keyrings for the perfect fit. MSRP on these rings are $25-$29 but we are doing it for just $20.00!

TIMELINE UPDATE
Mass production is moving along well and we will have some new behind the scenes manufacturing photos & videos to share in a future Backer Only Update. Our manufacturing partners are currently due to complete manufacturing by the end of April and we hope to begin the shipping phase sometime in May. If this changes we will be sure to update everyone.

The Numbers
In our efforts to be transparent with our backers, we wanted to share some behind the scenes numbers. Here is where we are at:
Backers: 2,031
Pledges: $96,180
Stonewashed Titanium: 1,916
Black Aluminum: 4,236
Glow-in-the-Dark sets: 1,504
It appears the black aluminum is twice as popular as the stonewashed titanium, however this might just be due to the fact that backers are not allowed to select and pledge on more than one reward level from one account AND we did not offer mix-and-match reward options. However, since backers will have the opportunity to mix-and-match MQRs via ADD-ONS on BackerKit, we assume that the quantities might even out a little, later. We will certainly have a more official count after BackerKit Surveys are completed.
Mass Production
As mentioned in previous updates we have already given our manufacturing partners the green light and they have been moving very fast on their end. We are still shooting for a fairly quick delivery phase, however we don't yet have an updated ETA to share. We hope to have a better idea once the campaign ends and after the Kickstarter 14-day payment collection phase.
Here is a quick video of the Glow-in-the-Dark vials that just finished mass production. Once the MQRs move into the assembly phase, the green vials you see will be installed.
There are more than 75,000+ vials there! How neat is that? 🤩

Here's what it takes to make an MQR. The part that drops off at the end is the threaded cap that you would unscrew in order to install and uninstall the vials. And if you guessed it, the remaining part on the lathe will be the main body portion. Check it out...
Note: What is not shown is that the leftover metal shavings and lubrication are collected, filtered, and then recycled. It is quite possible the MQR shavings will end up being part of a new flashlight project in the future! 😉

We have received some comments and messages regarding what other ADD-ONS besides the Glow-in-the-Dark vials will be available on BackerKit at the end of the campaign. Since we are only accepting PayPal as payment for ADD-ONS on BackerKit, it is helpful for backers who can't (or don't want to) use PayPal to have the option to pay for them on Kickstarter before end of the campaign. Using the list below you can Edit Your Pledge and then manually enter in the additional funds to cover the ADD-ONS you want by using the Bonus Support method as explained in our first Backer Update:

Hey Backers,
Just wanted to share some quick news! Having such a great start since day 1, we actually gave our manufacturing partner 🏭 the green light that day to begin mass production. We hope that the super early start helps us meet a quicker delivery for everyone. 🙏
Timeline
When we initially setup the campaign, we assumed a 1,000 unit production of each MQR and based our estimated timeline around that. We are way beyond that minimum order quantity now. So what do the current numbers actually look like?
Production Forecast
Based on the current pledges and at the time of this update, we have to produce a minimum 1,500 Stonewashed Titanium and 3000 Black Aluminum MQRs, and 10,000 glow-in-the-dark vials. Our forecast for the end of the campaign is 10,000 Black Aluminum and 5,000 Stonewashed Titanium, and approx. 25,000 glow-in-the-dark vials. 😮 Can we do it? With your help, we can!
Here is a sneak peak of some freshly CNC machined aluminum MQRs before the black anodization process.
Speaking of anodization, we are announcing our next Stretch Goal at$75,000 which is a material finish upgrade. The black aluminum MQRs will be going through a MIL-A-8625 (Military Spec) Type III hard coat anodization process. It certainly costs more to do but it is worth all of the following benefits...
Increased abrasion resistance
Increased wear resistance
Increased corrosion resistance
Improved aesthetics
Dielectric properties
Readily sterilized, non-contaminating

How to install Tritium or Glow-in-the-Dark Vials
Although each MQR will come with Green Glow-in-the-Dark vials alreadyinstalled, you may eventually want to swap them out for different colors or your own tritium vials if you have them. If you do, please watch our how-to video below.
List of items you will need:
Napkin or piece of paper
Loctite (or other trusted brand) Threadlocker Blue or Red
ZEROHOUR MQR
Tritium vials or Glow-in-the-Dark vials (Size: 1.5mm x 6mm)
Tweezers
PLEASE NOTE: We will be using Threadlocker Blue when assembling your MQR so when you receive yours removing the cap will take a bit more force than seen in the video. Threadlocker Blue is "removable/medium hold" while Threadlocker Red is more of a "permanent/strong hold" solution. If you don't plan on ever changing out your vials or you want a more secured cap, you should consider using Threadlocker Red. These are available at your local hardware store or online.
Errors While Pledging
We have gotten a number of messages and a few comments of backers having issues making a successful pledge selection. It appears for some the iOS app is throwing an hour glass ⏳ when selecting country and calculating the shipping costs. If you you are having an issue completing your pledge, we encourage you to first try making a pledge from a desktop PC computer or laptop.
